What is UAN?

UAN is a 12 digit number issued by an employer to the employee and later approved by the EPFO. UAN is a unique number which links multiple EPF accounts of an employee. The Government of India started giving UAN- Universal Account Number from the year 2014 to the existing EPF account holders & the new EPF account holders. By using the UAN, EPF account holder can login to the EPFO portal. The UAN of an employee enables the employee to link multiple accounts allotted to a single member. UAN enables the EPF account holders to check the EPF balance through an e-Passbook, EPF account details, EPFO updates, Eligibility for claiming EPF etc.

UAN registration:

Employees can collect their UAN from the employer or the company. After collecting the UAN you can activate the UAN by visiting the EPFO portal. The UAN activation process needs your Bank account number, Aadhar Card & PAN Card.

Eligibility Criteria for UAN:

  • EPF members who have paid at least one contribution on or before January 2014
  • EPF members who have not paid at least one contribution on or before January 2014
  • Indian Citizen

  • PAN Card

How to Apply for UAN Registration Online @ EPFO?

  • Apply for your UAN from your current employer or current working place
  • After getting the UAN number from the employer
  • Visit the UAN members e-Sewa portal
  • For UAN registration one has to provide the KYC details.
  • Enter your KYC (Know Your Customer) details.
  • Enter your Aadhar number.
  • Enter your PAN Number
  • Enter your Bank Account number.
  • Now enter the previous EPF account numbers.
  • Click the submit button to get registered.

How to Activate UAN Online @ EPFO?

  • Apply for your UAN from your current employer or current working place
  • After getting the UAN number from the employer
